High Meadow Farm Rovers represents the Premier collection of vintage Land Rovers in the United States. Each of the individual series Land Rovers are represented in this collection. In 2014, having restored the full historical line of Land Rovers, we decided to embark on a re-creation of the iconic 1947 center steer prototype Land Rover. This vehicle, which launched the new Land Rover company, was created by combining a 1942 jeep frame with a 1947 rover P2 10 engine and transmission.
The use of the 1947 Rover car engine in the Land Rover center steer prototype established a natural progression in our selection process for our next restoration project. A search for a 1947 Rover P2 sport touring car was initiated. The car was located in the United Kingdom and was owned by Mr. George Zaidmann. Arrangements for purchase were successfully completed and the car was transported to the United States ultimately destined for Saxtons River Vermont home of High Meadow Farm Rovers.
A total frame off restoration was undertaken which was successfully completed in approximately one year. The accompanying pictures illustrate the entire restorative process.
In September of 2019 the High Meadow Farm Rover Sport Touring car competed for the first time at the British invasion car show in Stowe Vermont. In head-to-head competition with over 700 vehicles the sport tour not only took first in its touring car division but as well took the “Best in Show” award.
Out of us at High Meadow Farm Rovers are delighted with the outcome of this latest restoration and look forward to additional competition.
